20th International Training Session on Human Rights and Peace Teaching

Dates to be determined

The aims of the training are to enable participants to acquire:
* knowledge and understanding of the legal and educational aspects of human rights conventions and texts;
* an understanding of democratic education and the non-violent resolution of conflicts;
* skills to enable them to share insights with others;
* opportunities to network with other human rights educators.

The working methods that will be used are:
* Lectures and discussion on philosophical, legal and educational aspects of human rights.
* Workshops;
* experiencing interactive methods for learning and applying human rights, democracy and peace;
* developing appropriate teaching strategies;
* presentation of global pedagogical approaches;
* presentation of a variety of teaching materials.

Working languages are English and French.

Level: professional

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Participants: 100 participants from Eastern and Western Europe, Africa, North and South America and Asia. This training session is designed for teachers in primary, secondary and vocational schools; inspectors, school principles and Ministry of Education officials; representatives of non-governmental organisations involved in human rights education. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Tuition, fee, lodging: Sfr. 200 tuition; Sfr. 800.- for the week including lodging in a double room and all meals.
