Electronic Resource Centre for Human Rights Education:
Opening the Door to Nonviolence.
![]() TO LIVE IN PEACE - PEACEFUL LIVINGWar looks for some people exciting, or at least that is how it is presented in many films and books. War in reality is different: it is violent and destructive, it makes a lot of people homeless, unhappy and - nonexistent. Peace is usually thought about as the absence of war, but it is not just something passive or without action. This section is meant to address the deep and active aspects of peace and to show that peace is a process of progress, justice, and mutual respect among people. It will also help students to come to some understanding of peace as a dynamic and action-oriented process which does not come about on its own. People have to create and sustain peace by taking the proper steps - by being nonviolent peace-makers. [Workshop 19] [Workshop 20]
